The Toyota Avensis mildly facelifted version will be launched in July.

It has slightly revised styling plus two new diesel engines. The more powerful of the two is the 175 bhp D4-D 180 unit from the current RAV-4, along with a D-4D 130, a replacement for the previous 114 bhp 2.0-litre D-4D engine.

Prices will be announced closer to the launch. In the light of recent bad news about car manufacturing in the UK, Toyota is keen to point out that its Derby factory is the sole source of European Avensismodels, the car it describes as its flagship model.

Production capacity in Derby has recently been increased and is now 285,000 vehicles per year.
