Frans Pace yesterday boosted his chances of success in the Malta International Grand Prix after the trap shooter built a commanding lead on the second day of the competition at the Bidnija ranges.
The 66 shooters competing in the event were engaged in two rounds of 25 clays each. Pace quickly made his intention clear right from the start hitting a straight in the opening round and then smashed 24 for an overall tally of 96.
Italy's Emanuele Ceccucci is second on 92 just three clays ahead of another Maltese shooter, Eugenio Borg, who hit 89.
The competition reaches its climax this morning at 10 with another round of 25. The top six qualify for the final barrage which starts at 1 p.m.
