I refer to Mr Silvio Rapa's letter (The Sunday Times, May 21) in reply to my letter of May 7. I could not write earlier as I was away from the island for some time.

The receipt presented to me from his hotel carried a VAT number and Exemption Number in very small print. I am very pleased with Mr Rapa's polite letter, compared to the raised voice he had used with me when he phoned me at home to demand an explanation to my first letter.

Mr Rapa calmed down and we had a amicable chat to explain matters and discuss the state of the hotel facilities, in which we both had equal arguments. I hope this letter satisfies Mr Rapa and that my promise has been kept. As far as I am concerned, this matter is closed.
