Obituary

CAMILLERI. On May 25, at St Luke's Hospital, ANGELO, aged 86, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Tessie née Schembri, his dear children Godfrey residing in the UK, Godwin residing in Australia, Joe and his wife Peggy residing in the UK, Alex residing in Australia, Marlene and her husband Charlie Muscat, Dorothy and her husband Emanuel Saliba, Jane and her husband Gordon Croome of Scotland, his beloved grandchildren Jonathan, Michelle, Sarah, Duncan, Lorraine, Justine, Alana, Donna, Samantha, Sara and Carl and his great-grandchildren, his sisters Rita, Lina and her husband John Scerri, his brother John and his wife Yvonne, his in-laws Joe Schembri, Joe Sciberras, Emanuel and Salvino Schembri, other nephews and nieces, relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital on Monday at 9 a.m. for the Carmelite parish church, Balluta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request, but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi will be greatly appreciated. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

Cultural Evening

A cultural evening involving a reading from the play Il-Qassis, a discussion on the scripts of literary works for theatrical and cinema presentation, music presentations and talks by Tony Parnis and Mario Micallef is being held at the Ministry for Gozo, San Frangisk today at 6.45 p.m.

A discussion will also be held on books by Mary-Anne Zammit and Anthony Zarb Dimech. The authors will be interviewed. Film and artistic work by Tony Parnis will also be on show.

Refreshments will wrap up the evening at 8.30 p.m.

Logo Competition

The National Archives is launching a logo competition.

The best entries will be short-listed by a selection committee. The deadline for submission of artworks is June 30.

The National Archives preserve the collective memory of the nation through the protection and accessibility of public archives.

Concert For Carmelo Pace

The Sliema Philharmonic Society together with the family of the late composer Carmelo Pace will hold a vocal and instrumental concert to mark the centenary of his birth.

Mro Pace had formed part of the Sacro Cuor parish community for more than 50 years.

The concert will be held at the Sliema Band Club in St Trophimus Street on June 11 at 10.30 a.m.

Taking part will be the Sliema Band directed by Ronnie Debattista; tenor Brian Cefai with pianist Michelle Cachia Castelletti; flutist Silvio Zammit accompanied on the piano by Ramona Zammit Formosa; and clarinettist William Debattista.

Joe Vella Bondin will deliver a presentation on Mro Pace. A bust, donated by Ronald Pisani to the society will be unveiled.

Lecture On Velasquez

The sixth in the Velasquez lectures series being conducted by the Circulo Cultural Hispano-Maltés is being held at its premises in M.A. Vassalli Street, Valletta next Friday at 6.30 p.m.

The lecture by Vincent Zammit will be in Maltese.
