'Lack of consultation' over waste plant

The committee set up to oppose upgrading works of the Sant' Antnin waste recycling plant yesterday sent a judicial letter to the director of WasteServ Malta complaining that he had failed to inform the committee about a call for tenders for the development.

In the letter, the committee condemned the behaviour of WasteServ for once again failing to consult with the committee.

The committee, which represents nine local councils apart from Marsascala organisations, said it was directly involved in the project and WasteServ was gravely mistaken not to have informed anyone about the content of the call for tenders.

It called on WasteServ to present the committee with a copy within three days and held the agency liable in any damages suffered.

Lawyer Owen Bonnici signed the letter.
