Employees at the Customs class section of the Customs Department have decided against signing an addendum to a 1994 agreement on restructuring, classification and assimilation, the General Workers' Union said.

It explained that the workers did not want the union to enter into an agreement that, according to them, would lead to worse working conditions.

The GWU said that while the workers agreed with the promotions contemplated in the agreement, they believed the addendum placed Customs Class employees at a disadvantage when compared with other workers in the public service.

The workers are also unhappy because they were not informed beforehand about the contents of that agreement and how it would affect them.
