I cannot understand why Grace Borg chose to back one of Malta's competitors just because one of the singers happened to be Maltese.

Our allegiance is to our country and not to the singer. By backing Switzerland Ms Borg went against the interests of her country. If Switzerland had won the contest Malta would have gained nothing in spite of a Maltese being in the group. This is similar to a football team that engages foreign players. The allegiance of these players is to their team and not to their country.

Keith Camilleri was representing Switzerland only and should never have expected the same treatment as Malta's representative. Voting for Switzerland because of Keith could have had a detrimental effect on Malta's placing.

I was disgusted by Ms Borg's despicable behaviour and her offensive words towards the minister and the chairman of the Maltasong board at the airport. Her action went beyond the limits expected in a civilised country.

I think it is proper for her to make an apology, if not to the minister at least to the public who witnessed those disgusting scenes. It is a pity that Mr Camilleri let himself be used by Ms Borg to lash out at the minister and Robert Abela.
