One of two men charged with stealing about 175 litres of diesel from an industrial vehicle yesterday pleaded guilty.

Jonathan Sghendo, 19, of Valletta and Kuwaiti national Khalil Zina, 31, of Balzan were yesterday arraigned separately and charged with stealing the diesel to the detriment of Carmel Camilleri and damaging his vehicle on Monday night.

Mr Sghendo pleaded guilty to the charges and was granted bail on the condition he turns up in court today when Magistrate Anthony Vella is expected to hand down judgment.

Mr Zina opted to file a not guilty plea and was remanded in police custody.

Police Inspector Daniel Zammit prosecuted.

Lawyer Chris Cardona appeared for Mr Sghendo.

Lawyer Frank Cassar represented Mr Zina.
