Two suspected of diesel theft

The police were yesterday holding a 19-year-old from Valletta and a 32-year-old foreigner living in Balzan who are suspected of stealing diesel from an industrial vehicle.

The two men were arrested after police officers mounting a road block at Saqqajja, in Rabat, noticed that a vehicle coming from the direction of Zebbug had stopped some distance away and two men inside were acting suspiciously.

The police drove towards the vehicle and found seven 25-litre jerry cans full of diesel in a field by the roadside.

The two men were arrested.
