Obituary

BORG. On May 21, HARRY, ex-Court Marshall, aged 78, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Frances, his sons Frankie, Vincent and Lino, their wives and children, nephews and nieces, in-laws, relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Mary of the Angels church, Bahar Ic-Caghaq, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at St Andrews Cemetery, Zebbug. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated. Lord grant him eternal rest.

BORG ST. JOHN. On May 22, at St Luke's Hospital, CARMEN, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her sad loss her beloved children Walter, Louise and her husband Martin, Roseanne, Cecilia and her husband Peter, Joseph and his wife Barbara, Anton and his wife Debbie, special friends Joe and Val, her grandchildren Colin and his wife Connie, Louise, Glen, Lee, Adam, Jamie, Wayne, Darren, Rebecca, Daphine, Lara, Christian, Clifford and her great-grandchildren, Emily and Maximilian.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for St Gregory's parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff and patients at Ward M2 at St Luke's Hospital, for all they did for our mother. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.

GIGLIO. On May 22, at his residence in Valletta, Dr JOHN GIGLIO (ex-CGMO), aged 75, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Antoinette née Cauchi, his dearest children Angèle, wife of Dr Victor Grech, Dr Pierre Giglio and his wife Ruth, residing in America, Anna Marie and her husband Dr Daren Caruana, residing in the UK, Joseph and his wife Muriel, his beloved grandchildren Marija, Elizabeth, Peter, Andrew and John, his brother, His Excellency Mgr Paul Giglio, his sisters Josephine and Mary, his brother Albert and his wife Rose, Dr Christopher Barbara, other nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. - R.I.P.

Pilgrimage by the Society of the Green Scapular at St Sebastian parish church, Qormi, today at 5.30 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Arts Logo Contest

The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts has embarked on a search for a "fresh and dynamic" logo which will reflect its mission to enhance Malta's cultural heritage both locally and abroad.

Artists are invited to submit designs, which must be in vector only, suitable for full-colour or monochrome production and easy to produce both in digital and printed form.

Applicants can submit up to two works. The closing date for submissions is June 2 and a non-refundable fee of Lm5 will be paid for each entry. The submissions will be selected by an adjudicating panel set up by the council.

The prize for the successful entry will be a holiday in a four- or five-star hotel in Europe for two people, including return air fares but excluding taxes.

Company Security

A two-hour presentation about the risks related to a company's information and communication technologies will be held today at the MFSA conference hall, Mriehel at 6 p.m.

The event, organised by the ISACA Malta Chapter, is entitled Developments In International Security Standard: The ISO27000 Series and should interest all risk owners, persons interested in information security, control and audit. The presentation will be delivered by Dr Derek Oliver.

Discussion On Higher Education

The next Chaplaincy In Dialogue meeting will be held on Thursday from 7 to 8.45 p.m. at Dar Manwel Magri, the Jesuit residence opposite Mireva Bookshop, at the University of Malta.

A panel, chaired by Ruth Farrugia, will present its views and expectations about the National Commission for Higher Education.

The members on the panel will be NCHE chairman Joseph F.X. Zahra, Charles J. Farrugia from the University Senate, Anthony Vella from the Malta Union of Teachers, Victor Buttigieg representing the University of Malta Academic Staff Association and Pierre Schembri Wismayer from the University Chaplaincy.

All university staff and students are invited to participate.

Super Brand

Early Learning Centre, a toy brand, has been included as one of Britain's superbrands by the independent members of the Superbrands Council in the 10th Anniversary edition of Superbrands - An Insight Into Britain's Strongest Brand.

It was chosen from a list of over 1,000 names. Early Learning Centre is present in Malta through a franchise owned by Amca Limited. The stores are found in Merchants Street, Valletta and in St Paul's Street, Rabat.

No Parking

Due to filming in Valletta today, there will be no parking between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m in Old Bakery Street, corner with St Dominic Street up to St Sebastian Street and in St Sebastian Street, corner with Old Bakery Street up to Gun Post Bar in Marsamxett Road.

Power Cuts

The electricity supply will be suspended today in Gzira, between 8 a.m. and noon, in parts of Sant Albert, Gianni Bencini, Il-Flotta, Karlo Manche, Cameron, Parisio and Boverie streets; and in Zurrieq, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Tal-Baqqari Area.

Watering Plants

The Indoor Plant Circle will hold a meeting on the method of watering plants at the Senior Citizens Centre, 46/47, St Publius Street, Floriana on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Memorial Concert

As part of the celebrations to mark the late Pope John Paul II's first visit to Malta, the Pope John Paul II memorial committee will present a concert by the Orchestra of Romanian Engineers on Friday at the Zebbug parish, Gozo at 8 p.m.
