A 22-year-old man yesterday admitted to trafficking in about 100 ecstasy pills.

In a separate case, a 33-year-old man was charged with trafficking in heroin two years ago.

In the first case, the young man of Zejtun filed a guilty plea to trafficking in ecstasy and the possession of the pills with the intent to sell between April and May 2004.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano upheld a request made by the defence and ordered a ban on the name of the man. He gave the order after hearing how the man had disclosed the identity of his supplier and police investigations were still underway.

The case was put off for judgment to October.

In the second case, Martin Debono, 33 of Hamrun, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in heroin and the possession of the drug in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use on and before August 2004.

Police Inspector Norbert Ciappara prosecuted.

Lawyers Jason Azzopardi and Kris Busietta appeared for the 22-year-old while lawyers José Herrera and Deborah Delceppo appeared for Mr Debono.
