The police are investigating burglaries from residences in Msida and Sliema in which around Lm48,000 were allegedly stolen in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Some Lm28,000 were reported stolen from Msida and around Lm20,000 in cash and jewellery from the Sliema house.

The front door was forced open in both cases, police sources said.

However, three armed robbers in Rabat left empty handed after they attempted to hold up a man on his way to his tea shop yesterday morning. The thieves attacked the tea shop owner, who resisted, before firing shots into the air and running away, the police said.
