There are nine persons who have Aids, according to information held by the Health Department. The disease has caused the death of 53 people since 1986, Health Minister Louis Deguara said in reply to a parliamentary question yesterday.

He said that up to January 27, 2004, 39 HIV cases had been reported.

The minister was replying to a parliamentary question by Adrian Vassallo (MLP).
