Patients are being advised by the hospital authorities to keep their appointment times when attending the Out-Patients Department in order to reduce unnecessary waits. Hospitals spokesman Tonio Bonello said that attending a clinic before the appointment time did not mean one would be seen to earlier. The use of the yellow Special Identity Card to prioritise patients who cannot wait had been reviewed and priority was being given according to the "expert discretion of the clinical staff", he said.
