In Burning The Wrong Cars? (April 22) David Muscat of Mosta said: "It is ironic that the victims of the recent cowardly acts of arson are the Jesuits rather than columnists, opinion-formers or cartoonists of scant faith.
"Why are these perpetrators targeting the Jesuits rather than the property of our prolific columnists?..."
And in Dangerous Liberality (May 1), Bridget Cassar Borg Olivier said, in reference to I. M. Beck's opinion on the Vatican Holy Week homily on The Da Vinci Code: "Mr Muscat clearly has a point, even though he was referring to racism".
There have probably been others who privately agreed. Their careless talk has not cost any lives so far.
Now that arsonists are attacking columnists and opinion-formers, perhaps the letter writers or their sympathisers would like to recommend the arsonists' next target?
No doubt this letter will provoke some reaction. Before anyone rushes into print, please think carefully about what you write.
Someone may actually take you seriously.
