Inter owner Massimo Moratti has ended speculation about the future of coach Roberto Mancini by saying he would remain in charge of the Nerazzurri next season.

Asked if Mancini's position was safe, Moratti said: "Yes, yes, absolutely, but this year he has to do well," Inter's official website reported yesterday.

Inter won the Italian Cup for the second successive season but finished third in Serie A behind Milan and champions Juventus.

Mancini has been in charge of Inter for two seasons after joining them from Lazio.
