Bayern Munich midfielder Martin Demichelis says he has lost the will to live after missing out on a place in Argentina's World Cup squad.
"It's not only that I don't have any desire to play any more - I don't have any desire to live," Demichelis was quoted as telling an Argentine TV network.
Demichelis, 25, was unexpectedly dropped by Argentina coach Jose Pekerman when he named his 23-man squad on Monday.
Former captain Javier Zanetti, of Inter, was also dropped.
Demichelis moved to Bayern in 2003 from River Plate and has become a bulwark in front of the defence, helping the team win two championships and two German cups in the last two years.
Argentina are grouped with the Netherlands, Ivory Coast and Serbia in the World Cup finals.
