A 31-year-old man was yesterday charged with the possession of 12 grammes of heroin with the intent to sell.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano heard Jason Busuttil, of Birkirkara, plead not guilty to the possession of the drug on and before February 5, 2005.

Police Inspector Kevin Farrugia, who was prosecuting with Inspector Victor Aquilina, told the magistrate how the police had noticed a suspicious car parked in Birkirkara.

Officers searched the car and the four men inside it. When they searched Mr Busuttil, who was at the wheel, he was found to be in the possession of the drugs tucked under his belt.

Lawyer Chris Cardona appeared for Mr Busuttil.
