I would like to draw the attention of the chairman of the Mdina Rehabilitation Committee to a complaint I have been making to the Mdina council regarding the lack of access to the bastions by people with physical disabilities.

When work was in progress I had complained that the lack of access meant that persons with a disability could not enjoy the magnificent views from the bastions.

Millions of liri were spent on upgrading Mdina but it appears that the powers that be decided that spending a few extra liri on a couple of ramps to give access to all, irrespective of their mobility, was too much.

Mdina is visited by tourists and Maltese alike. What message are we sending when ramps are available to enter the Mdina cathedral and museums, places where donations are expected or a fee is charged, but not to enjoy the free view of Malta from the bastions?

Tourists are not stupid and comments are made, which I'm sure they repeat when they return to their own countries. What kind of advert is that for Malta?
