Malta stamp collections for main public libraries

Students of Malta's philatelic history will find it easier to carry out research following the presentation by Maltapost of two Malta stamp collections to the National Library, in Valletta.

The second album is earmarked for the Gozo Public Library.

The Malta stamp collections issued by Maltapost shortly after Malta's accession to the EU on May 1, 2004, contain a wealth of material relating to the postal history of these islands, the postal company said. The 380-page album includes most of the stamps in mint format issued between the independence of Malta in 1964 and its accession to the EU in 2004.

The album includes annotations relating to every single issue within this "golden" period of Maltese philately, together with a number of essays covering various aspects of life in Malta, ranging from geography to the arts and culture and on to philately.
