FOI Executives Cecilia Vella and Kevin Caruana welcomed two Tunisian members of the Tunisian-Maltese Mixed Committee to the FOI's premises in Floriana on April 27. These businesswomen were part of the delegation accompanying Salwa Ayachi Labben, Minister for Women, The Family, Children and the Elderly of Tunisia, during her visit to Malta.
The main focus of this meeting was to inform the Tunisian delegates of the FOI's active involvement on the Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprise (UMCE) and the direct links the FOI has with the Tunisian Employers' Association for Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts (UTICA).
Reference was made to the recent UMCE General Assembly hosted by the FOI, as well as the signing of the FOI-UTICA agreement, which aims to establish a joint business council between the two bodies to develop economic co-operation in all fields, promote commercial exchanges and strive to remove obstacles that may arise.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of organising exchange visits between firms in the two countries and joint venture opportunities, particularly in the chemicals and clothing manufacturing sectors.
