Following the success of the Limestone Heritage, may I suggest to all tour operators to include Swieqi in their tours as an example of building practice in the Maltese Islands.

Swieqi currently resembles one huge building site and all sorts of building practices are on show: stone-working machines are being used on the streets, certain building sites are as yet uncovered by netting and so the use of chasers to cut concrete bricks can be clearly seen and cranes, concrete mixers, rock cutters and bulldozers are everywhere. They can also examine the fine quality of building dust that is being produced every single day.

This visit could also prove to be useful to doctors and specialists to study the effects of this dust on asthmatic patients and those who suffer from hay fever, as well as the effects of noise pollution on students studying for MATSEC exams and residents alike. They will also be able to study the effects of having to spend full days in a house or apartment without being able to open any doors or windows for fresh air.

This is a very clear example of how a quiet, peaceful, residential area can turn into a nightmare in a matter of weeks.
