A textile manufacturing company yesterday filed a judicial protest claiming that an eviction order issued against it was "abusive and illegal".

Linkyarn (Cashmere) Industries Company Limited filed the protest in the First Hall of the Civil Court against Malta Industrial Parks Limited and the Commissioner of Land.

Linkyarn explained that it rented a factory from Malta Industrial Parks in Bulebel. There they made textiles which they both exported and sold to the local market. Linkyarn added that it also had a permit to use the factory as a warehouse.

In a letter sent on April 24, Malta Industrial Parks and the Commissioner of Land had ordered Linkyarn to leave the factory within 20 days even though it was operating a thriving textile business.

Linkyarn claimed that their actions were abusive and illegal and held them liable for any damages suffered.

Lawyer Edward DeBono signed the protest.
