I refer to the letter Vehicle Registration Tax (April 29). The correspondent's letter is full of inaccuracies and misinterpretations, some of which beg clarification.

Maltese citizens who, like this correspondent, are currently residing in a foreign country and wish to come to Malta for a period of a month are requested to formally apply, in writing, asking to be issued with a Temporary Admission of Motor Vehicles into Malta permit.

The letter of application must be accompanied by documents that clearly show that the vehicle is properly registered and licensed in the owner's state of residence and must visibly display valid registration plates from the said state.

Once the permit is issued, the vehicle may be brought into Malta for a period of a month. There are no charges whatsoever involved.

Regarding the mails sent to our Customer Care Unit, I regret to inform the correspondent that these cannot be traced. This notwithstanding, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
