There are 488 pending separation cases at the Family Court in Malta, including 44 presented since the beginning of this year, Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg said.

He said that in Gozo, there are 27 pending cases of separation including three filed this year. The minister was replying to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Carmelo Abela.

Replying to another question by Mr Abela, Dr Borg said there were currently 33 pending trials by jury of which nine involved homicide, 11 were on drug trafficking and one on theft. Foreigners were involved in four of the cases.
