Vodafone Malta said yesterday that it was committed to reducing its European roaming prices by 40 per cent on average by not later than April 2007.

"This means further significant cost savings for Vodafone Malta's customers while travelling in Europe," a company statement said.

Last year, Vodafone launched its Travel Promise and the 40 per cent reduction will be based on the average roaming prices of last summer.

"Vodafone Travel Promise is such a great value that it even offers significantly lower rates than the EU Commission is proposing to introduce. We believe that competition is the best way to deliver better value and better services to customers, not regulation," said Hatem Dowidar, CEO of Vodafone Malta. Vodafone Travel Promise allows Vodafone customers to call home at local rates with only a connection fee of 50c added per call. For the same connection fee, Vodafone customers will be able to receive calls at no additional cost, for calls up to 10 minutes.

Activating the Vodafone Travel Promise is free of charge and can be carried out by calling customer care on 247 from a Vodafone or 2148 2820 from any other line.

Alternatively, customers can visit one of Vodafone's retail outlets in Birkirkara, Valletta, Paola, Naxxar and Gozo.

Vodafone Travel Promise is available on Vodafone networks in number of European and other countries. More information can be found on the website www.vodafone.com.mt
