England's top-flight clubs will decide the future of Newcastle United's interim manager Glenn Roeder after the Premier League rejected a bid for his job to be made permanent without the relevant coaching qualification.

The League insist their rules require that managers hold the UEFA professional licence "and do not provide for any dispensation."

Clubs have already been asked for their views and if there is enough support a resolution would need to be passed at the Premier League AGM in the close season.

In three months since Roeder took over from sacked manager Graeme Souness he has revived the club's fortunes, lifting the side from 15th into European contention.
