I write on behalf of the White Taxi Association and refer to the letter by John Norman Simm entitled Taxi Rip-Off.
I would like to point out that the association has introduced a system whereby taxi fares are pre-paid at a taxi booth which is conspicuously situated within the arrival lounge of the airport. A similar booth is located at the cruise liner terminal.
Such booths are intended precisely to avoid similar situations of over-charging whereby the person who wishes to use a taxi pre-pays the fare for his intended destination at the booth and simply presents the coupon to the first taxi driver at the taxi stand.
Furthermore, the association is adamant in taking all the necessary steps in respect of those taxi drivers who abuse the system or who commit any other violation of the law.
To this effect, if Mr Simm could kindly furnish us with the date when this incident occurred as well as the number of the taxi involved we would be in a position to make the relative reports in order for the necessary disciplinary action to be taken.
