A 17-year-old boy, who suffers from a drug addiction problem, was yesterday charged with holding a young woman against her will and seriously injuring her on Monday night.

The teenage boy also pleaded not guilty to stealing the girl's mobile phone in St Paul's Bay.

Following a request by the boy's lawyer, Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna ordered that the boy be held in preventive custody at Mount Carmel Hospital where he can be placed under psychiatric care.

Police Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted.
