TGIFriday's Stompers RFC (picture) have just won the MRFU Cisk Lager League with an unbeaten run of games.

This season, the team was successful also in winning the Ray Elliot Cup for the second year running, the Sevens Challenge Cup and are in the final of the Barclay's Cup, to be played on Saturday at the Tedesco Stadium.

Team captain, Patrick Satariano, along with team-mates Matthew Mirabelli, David Gasan, Harry Collins and Malcolm Attard formed part of the national team in the World Cup qualifiers against Croatia and Belgium and the club is also contributing with key players to the Malta 'A' side.

"We are delighted to be supporting Stompers this season," Marco Debono, Marketing Executive for TGIFriday's said.

"This year was perfect to celebrate their 10th anniversary, and definitely a huge reward for their efforts portrayed in an attractive style of open rugby."

The team is also sponsored by Carlsberg Beer and NTT Creations Ltd.

Paul Slater, club president, pointed out that the team is still relatively young and that a good number of players are being recruited from the youth ranks.

"The future of the game here depends largely on the efforts made with developing youth sectors," Slater said.

During the season, Stompers practise mainly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Anyone interested in taking up rugby as sport should contact Geoff Dixon on 7928-0308 or Andrew Camilleri on 9926-7926 (www.stompersrugby.com).
