A Libyan man has been cleared of stealing a government car but fined Lm100 for the possession of a stereo that had been stolen from the vehicle.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti found Emad Othman Salini, 30, guilty of the possession of a car stereo stolen from a government-owned car in September last year.

Mr Salini was cleared of stealing the car and the stereo as the charges had not been proven.
