A Valletta man was given an 18-month jail term suspended for two years for making a false declaration to the Malta Transport Authority by claiming he had lost a car's registration plates which were eventually attached onto another vehicle.

Saviour Attard, 61, was also interdicted for five years.

He confessed he had informed the ADT he had lost the registration plates of a Kia Clarus. He also said he allowed Francis Cremona to drive his Honda Civic when he had no insurance cover.

Both Mr Attard and Mr Cremona, 21, of Valletta, admitted to the malicious use of forged documents and Mr Cremona also admitted of attaching the registration plates of a Kia onto a Honda.

Mr Cremona was fined Lm100.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti presided over the case.

Police Inspector Carlo Ellul prosecuted.
