A contemplative view of landscapes

An exhibition of paintings by artist Christopher Saliba has opened at Cleland and Souchet, Portomaso, St Julians.

The oil paintings on canvas consist of a repertoire of landscapes inspired by suggestive scenes from the Maltese islands. The general feeling of Mr Saliba's landscapes is that of a contemplative and spiritual nature. Usually, the artist tends to attribute more importance to the emotive nature of his work.

The familiar characteristics which distinguish his paintings are the rich and textural qualities of his works as well as the application of vibrant and warm hues that are usually associated with the expressionist artists.

The exhibition is open to the public throughout this month. Opening times are Monday to Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 to 8 p.m.; and Saturdays from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 to 8 p.m.
