Airport pilfering (1)

If, as Adrian Bajada alleges (April 27), thefts from baggage were being done at different UK airports, why do we not read of them in our press?

I have been a regular visitor to Malta since 1988 and will continue to be so.

It upsets me that these allegations are being made against Malta as I have always believed that you could trust the Maltese with your life, never mind your luggage.

But I am even more amazed that very little if anything appears to be done about it.

Who has access to baggage and who of these was on duty at the time of the outward flights? Does one or more persons' name appear as being on duty at the time? This would be a staring point in an attempt to identify any potential culprit(s) if the crimes are being perpetrated in Malta.

Bad press, accurate or inaccurate, of this nature is the last thing Malta needs for its tourist industry.
