Barcelona's Dutch midfielder Mark van Bommel said yesterday he had rejected a possible move to Bayern Munich.

"Three or four weeks ago the German side asked the club about me, but both Barcelona and I said no, because I don't want to leave," Van Bommel was quoted as saying on the Marca website.

With Bayern midfielder Michael Ballack reportedly close to completing a move to Chelsea the Bundesliga leaders have been linked with Van Bommel, who has not been a regular in Barca's side this season.

The 29-year-old joined Barca from PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer last year, and has a contract with Barcelona until 2008.

Barcelona can retain their Primera Liga title tomorrow, and face Arsenal in the Champions League final on May 17.
