Around 80 vintage cars took part in the 11th Old Motors Club show in the grounds of Mount Carmel Hospital, in Attard, over the long weekend.

Some 99 cars were exhibited this year, some dating back to the early post World War I years, such as a Wolsley and Chevrolet manufactured in 1926. There was also a 1927 Chevrolet Capitol one-ton truck which was restored by club member Alfred Balzan and his son over an 11-year span. The truck was found in a sorry state in a quarry near Mosta. Roads Minister Jesmond Mugliett praised the dedication of the 300 club members who strive to preserve over 1,600 vintage vehicles.

"By keeping these vehicles in such good shape, you are guarding part of the heritage of the Maltese islands and its people. Most of these cars shaped the history of transport because they gave affordable and personalised mechanised mobility to the masses," the minister told members of the club.
