Years ago I spent a few days on Harbour Island, otherwise called the land of happy people! Last week my daughter and I discovered another land of happy people - the lovely island of Malta. How kind people are and how much there is to visit. A beautiful setting, ideal climate, at least for us who live in Geneva and so close.

However, we were terribly sad to see how much damage is being done. So many beautiful buildings which should be restored and protected are being torn down and replaced by horrors (very often left unfinished). The taxis are disgracefully expensive and function with no meters.

Valletta, where we stayed (Meridien Phoenicia) is in need of a good tidying up and cleaning.

Restaurants are generally of poor quality. Ten on 10 go to Air Malta and to our chauffeur-driven car from Meli Garage; our driver Kenneth was an angel. Ten on 10 to the Mediterraneo attraction park - educational, clean, animals in good condition and beautifully run. Ten on 10 to the ferry system.

The Malta experience is a brilliant show which gives a good idea of the treasures to be seen on Malta.

The same system in Mdina needs to be improved. The Sweethaven Village should be closed down until it has been fixed and reorganised; I believe it is dangerous to let people walk around.

Hoping these comments are taken into account.
