Within the framework of the existing healthy relationship between the two countries and their common will to promote co-operation and economic complementarity in all fields, an agreement was signed by Adrian Bajada, FOI President, and Hédi Djilani, president of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicraft (UTICA), on Monday.

The agreement, signed in the presence of Foreign Minister Michael Frendo and Tunisian Ambassador to Malta Mohamed Mezgheani, was mainly to establish a Joint Business Council between the two bodies whose main objective would be to develop economic co-operation in all fields, promote commercial exchanges and strive to remove obstacles that may arise.

Both bodies confirmed their commitment to implement initiatives, advising and supporting the creation of joint companies in different economic fields in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the two countries.

Among the other objectives of this agreement was the encouragement of commercial and financial agreements between enterprises; the suggesting and organising of visit exchanges between businessmen of the two countries and securing contacts; the promotion of co-operation in all fields and in particular the industrial, commercial, financial, touristic and handicraft sectors; the communication of trade and economic information; and assistance in the settling of any commercial dispute or differences between businessmen and investors from Tunisia and Malta.
