The Catholic Action Youths walked away with Lm500 last night after winning the National Recognition of Youths in Society award last night.

This award is the government's official recognition of voluntary work and activities carried out by young people in the non-formal educational sector, through work carried out both locally and abroad.

The pressure group Moviment Graffitti placed second, winning Lm200, while the Centru Zghazagh Balzan placed third, winning Lm100 together with a commemorative plaque.

Thirteen youth organisations were nominated by the public, recognising their contribution in society and five were shortlisted by the selection committee.

The other finalists - the Caritas Youth Service and Youths@Local Zejtun - were awarded Lm75 each.

Frans Borg, Permanent Secretary at the Education Ministry, presided over the annual award-giving ceremony held at the Robert Samut Hall, Floriana.
