I refer to the cheque payment of Lm7.47 I made to Melita Cable on January 19, as part payment for the analogue value pack as per your bill dated January 16.
Prior to settling this amount, I had contacted your company for clarification but was told that everything was regular. I had found this rather strange and I reluctantly effected the payment.
Now, today's (February 19) Customer Service Column in The Sunday Times features a letter from another customer of yours who was in exactly the same position I am in but whose extra charges were waived by Melita Cable as he had been their customer for a long time.
Since I have been a customer of yours since 1992, I expect to be refunded the Lm7.47.
Thank you for being understanding. (Gino Borg)
I asked for Melita Cable's comments. This is their reply:
We are pleased to inform you that we have discussed the case with Mr Borg. A copy of this letter is being sent to Mr Gino Borg. (Kevin Borg, Melita Cable, customer operations manager, February 27).
Indeed Melita Cable dealt with the issue in a customer-oriented fashion as confirmed by another satisfied customer:
With reference to my letter to you of February 19, I am glad to inform you that I was contacted by Melita Cable plc a couple of days ago and was informed that the extra charges for which I was billed would be waived. In fact today I received the refund.
May I take this opportunity to thank Melita Cable plc for being so practical and understanding on this matter. (Gino Borg)
I thank Melita Cable for their co-operation.
