Call for civil society say in Mepa

The Graffitti Group has called for an end to representation of the Nationalist and Labour parties on the boards of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority.

The group in a statement said that Mepa boards should include wide representation of civil society from sectors such as environmental NGOs and local councils.

It asked why an inquiry was required into the Xemxija case, where a contractor carried out excavations illegally. The role of Mepa was to ensure that rules that fell under its jurisdiction were observed.
