Arnold Cassola's election to the Italian Lower House, following his two successive appointments as secretary general of the European Greens, has surely made Malta proud...or possibly not? It is at best ironic that Arnold has been practically denied the opportunity to officially represent us in both the European and Maltese Parliaments - the former by illogical block-voting and the latter by an undemocratic electoral threshold - which the patronising two main local parties unscrupulously promote and safeguard respectively, cheekily claiming it's in our (sic) interest!

Prof. Cassola will not "shake the dust off his sandals" and turn his back on Malta. In fact as he proved over the years he has been involved in local and European spheres, he has used and will use these platforms to promote our real interests (beyond monetary terms), both as Maltese and European citizens.

May his perseverance and work guide upcoming and prospective dedicated politicians to factually focus their efforts towards the citizens' rather than their party's and/or clique's interests!

So, dear honourable representatives, at what stage are we, with the overdue fair proportional electoral reform - or are we expecting Prof. Cassola to deploy Italy's geographical boot profile to kick some backsides?
