An Irishman and a Scotsman living in Malta were yesterday each given a two-year jail term, suspended for four years, after they pleaded guilty to theft.
Jason Michael Winder, 29, and Robin George Galbraith, 22, respectively, pleaded guilty to theft of hi-fi and other property from a flat in St Paul's Bay to the detriment of Julie White, and to causing wilful damage. They also pleaded guilty to theft from and wilful damage to another house in St Paul's Bay to the detriment of Keith Gibson.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Michael Mallia, considered the early guilty plea and the fact that the accused cooperated with the police and that most of the stolen property had been recovered. The court said one had to consider them as first-time offenders.
Police Inspector Carmelo Magri prosecuted.
