Din l-Art Helwa will be holding a fund-raising spring fête at the historic Msida Bastion Garden of Rest, a spectacular location nestling in the heart of the 17th century bastions and overlooking Lazaretto and Marsamxetto Creek.

Din l-Art Helwa won a silver medal in 2001 from Europa Nostra for restoration which enabled the tranquil and unique garden to be reopened and enjoyed by the public.

Currently in full bloom, its exotic and indigenous plants and trees and its exquisite early 19th century neo-classic monuments can be enjoyed by all at the spring feast on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will also be guided tours by historians at noon and 2 p.m. which will give the public an opportunity to learn about the historic context of the site. Stalls will be set up on the terraces where paintings, plants, second hand books, cakes and other delicacies will be sold.

Kenneth Zammit Tabona and other artists will be setting up their easels for an outdoor painting session for the occasion.

Din l-Art Helwa is encouraging the public to attend hoping the feast will become an annual event to raise funds that would help the organisation with the restoration and maintenance of the many historic sites it holds in trust.

The bastion garden is best reached by taking the first turning left on Great Siege Road, in Valletta, below the public library, and then the first fork left again.
