Local Fiat agents UCIM Co held an official launch of the new Grande Punto at Badger Karting, Ta' Qali Raceway, last Friday week.
Managing director Francesca Mamo welcomed Dott. Michele Blaso, country manager for Malta at Fiat Auto, and went on to affirm that the event marked the revitalisation of the Fiat brand.
"The introduction of the Grande Punto and a number of other new models marks the start of a new era of success for Fiat Auto and for us, UCIM Co., as their agents," Ms Mamo said. "Fiat is once again returning in full force internationally, with a new range of winners in all segments", pointing to the Grande Punto's sales success in January as an indication.
She recalled that the models on display at the Geneva Motor Show "were a clear demonstration of the extraordinary human and technological inheritance that this brand possesses".
Fiat, she said, was entering the SUV segment with the Sedici, displayed the Grande Punto Rally and revolutionary, environmentally-friendly versions of the Fiat Panda Multi Eco and the Multipla Natural Power.
Among the models that currently make up Fiat's local line-up, shown at the Motor Fair in Naxxar earlier this month, are the Croma, a stationwagon designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro with high levels of comfort and a generous interior, and the Idea, a mini-MPV ideal for the needs of the Maltese family.
