A recently founded association bringing together all the Maltese living in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, last week launched a new Website intended to serve as a primary network tool to be used by the Maltese community in these three countries.
The Maltese in Benelux association, known as MIBA, has already organised a first get-together in Brussels attended by more than 60 Maltese residents, particularly from Belgium.
The Website - www.miba.be - was designed by Dragan Avramovic, who is married to a Maltese and is currently living in Brussels.
Ray Borg, one of MIBA's founders, said that the need for such an association gathering all the Maltese has long been felt, especially as the number of Maltese citizens working or studying in the Benelux region during the past months has seen a dramatic increase.
He said that the idea is that the association will act as a basic information point for all those who would need to seek advice from Maltese people who have already lived the experience. Another aim is to keep Maltese citizens informed about what is happening back home and what type of Maltese activities will be going on in the Benelux region.
Mr Borg thanked Allied Newspapers and Air Malta for becoming the official sponsors of MIBA. He said the Website had been received very well by the Maltese community and would be further developed to satisfy the needs of the Maltese community.
