The routine of school life was changed on March 28, 29 and 30 at Guardian Angel School, when the school organised Lenten sermons with a difference. The method of catechesis that Fr Raymond Cassar used during these sermons was based on SPRED (Special Religious Education) groups. Students were divided into small groups and the catechesis used to educate the students was in a symbolic, intuitive, inductive and liturgical way.
During these sermons the students experienced friendship, love and happiness. The Cross, the Bible, flowers, and background music in the meeting place imparted a sense of the sacred. When we are happy together, Jesus is with us. This is the evangelical root for the growth of faith and this, with the help of the Holy Spirit helps us to love and appreciate one another. During this faith education, our students also developed a sense of their religious identity.
On the final day, to conclude the liturgical celebrations, Fr Cassar celebrated Mass, during which the Last Supper was commemorated. Twelve students represented the Apostles. There was the washing of the feet that represented the service and charity of Christ, who came "not to be served, but to serve".
During these celebrations students looked radiant and with the encouragement and help of their teachers and facilitators, they participated fully.
