A Cospicua man was charged with stealing a car and driving it when he was in a state of intoxication on Wednesday.

Philip-Mario Chircop, 28, pleaded not guilty to stealing a Ford Fiesta, driving it without insurance cover, speeding and relapsing. He was remanded in police custody.

Police Inspectors Joseph Mercieca and Roland Cassar prosecuted.

Lawyer Vincent Galea represented Mr Chircop.
