The marble memorial at the Addolorata Cemetery commemorating Manwel Magri, the renowned archaeologist, has been cleaned by the Conservation Division of Heritage Malta and the Museum of Fine Arts.

Fr Magri (1851 - 1907) had excavated the hypogeum at Hal Saflieni in 1902, carried out other excavations and published several papers on folklore.

The memorial is a low relief in white Carrara marble and was sculpted by Francesco Saverio Sciortino. The conservation works were carried out by the ceramics, glass, metals and stone section within the Conservation Division.
