A Gzira man was yesterday charged with threatening, assaulting and slightly injuring two police constables in his hometown on Sunday.

Magistrate Silvio Meli heard Godwin Galea, 38, plead not guilty to assaulting and injuring the constables, the illegal possession of a knife and disobeying the police.

He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm500.

Police Inspector Stephen Gatt prosecuted.

Lawyer Frank Cassar appeared for Mr Galea.
